Single Variable And Multivariable Calculus

Single Variable and multivariable calculus are very powerful tools when used by an Engineer especially an ECE. Imagine calculus as one of the weapons that a soldier carries with him.






Single Variable Calculus:


Single Variable Calculus deals with the real number system,set theory,series,infinite series,power series.A theorem of single variable calculus widely used by an engineer is Taylor's Theorem and it's expansion the McLauren Theorem.Another concept been discussed in Single Variable Calculus and it is very important is differantiation ant its properties.Also indefinite integrals ,Riemann integral and their application are also been analysied.In this course it is also done a small introduction in first order differential equations,and second order linear differential equations with constant coefficients.

Multivariable Calculus:

Multivariable Calculus deals with multivariable functions ,sequences,limits and continuity.It is also introduced the method of finding the derrivatives of vector functions of one variable.Partial differantion implicit differentiation,total differential and linear approximation are discussed in depth.Also the Chain Rule,the derrivatives and differentials of higher order,directional derrivatives are presented here.In single variable calculus the Talyor and McLauren theorem was presented.In Multivariable Calculus those theorems are presented for multivariable functions.Finaly Multivariable Calculus deals with Integrated calculus of several variables which includes : Double,Triple and Multiple integrals,change of variables and integral in several coordinates.













Electrical Machines

Electrical Machines are devices that convert mechanical energy to electrical energy and vice versa. They also change AC voltage from one level to another.

Most of the ECE departments in all the universities around the world have a course about Electrical Machines.In some cases the course name may be Electromechanics or Electric Motors. For example in MIT there is a course called Continuum Electromechanics.
In this course universities emphasize on the configuration and operation of direct current machines,winding connections and steady state operating characteristics,magnetic saturation and armature reaction.They also focus on fundamental principles of transient and dynamic operation of electrical machines, application in direct current machines, block diagrams.Emphasis is also given in configuration and principles of operation of synchronous machines, steady state operating characteristics of cylindrical rotor turbo-alternators and salient pole rotor synchronous machines, study of magnetic saturation and Potier triangle.Transient and dynamic operation of synchronous machines, damper windings, analysis in direct and quadrature axis are also discussed.

Electrical Engineering ,some times is referred as Electrical and Electronics Engineering is the field of Engineering that deals with electricity,electronics and electromagnetism.It covers a range of subtopics including power,electronics,control systems,systems,signal processing and telecommunications.

Power Engineering deals with the generation,transmission and distribution of electricity and the design of related devices such as transformers,generators,electric motors etc.

Control engineering focuses on the modeling of dynamic systems and the design of controllers that will make systems behave in the desired manner

Electronics
involves the design and testing of electronic circuits that use components such as capacitors,resistors,inductors,diodes and tranzistors.

Signal Processing deals with the analysis and manipulation of signals which can be either analog or digital.

Telecommunications focuses on the transmission of information across a channel such as coax cable, optical fiber or the free space.
